17 ways my cats celebrate World Cat Day

1) Playing in a box fort.
These walls are strong. I’m sure they’ll hold against the terrier of the black forrest.
2) Staying in bed late
If there’s a cat on it, it’s a cat bed.
3) Escaping to an island retreat.
Quick! Into the suitcase. They’ll never notice.
4) Getting some climbing in.
This is the more challenging route, but that’s what I like about it.
5) Going bird watching.
A goldfinch, three sparrows, a red-bellied woodpecker and seven tufted titmice…so far.
6) Taking some time out for yoga
Maintaining the Full Meatloaf Position takes practice.
7) Watching online videos with friends
How come she always knows about the cool videos before I do?
8) Taking a long, relaxing bath
Can’t a cat have a little privacy here?
9) Settling down with a good book…or nine.
One can never have too many books…or cats.
10) Going bug hunting
Hunting the elusive–and challenging–stink bug.
11) Having a ball…specifically, the dog’s ball
GIve me one million mouses and I will return this ball to you, Dog.
12) Power napping
Of course
13) Shoe shopping. (Those World Cat Day sales have great bargains!)

14) Sunbathing
I like just a touch of shade on my lounge.
15) Binge watching a favorite TV series (like Dr. Who)
My favorite doctor and companion!
16) Playing with the new toys that the Cat Lady left under the cat tree
This was the best World Cat Day ever!
17) Hanging out with friends
He’s not a cat, but he gets into the spirit of the holiday.
