Photos: It’s black and white
TweetIn honor of my first attempt at the Black and White Sunday blog hop, I’m introducing the cast of characters from Life with Dogs and Cats, appearing in the order in which they joined our family.

Lilah, a border collie mix, offers a photographer’s nightmare: trying to capture a black dog running in white snow.

Jasper, a catahoula hound / shepherd mix (best guess) looks particularly elegant in black and white. LIke when a man puts on a tux.

This is one of Dawn’s favorite spots. Actually, I think it’s a favorite of all the cats.

Athena loves to watch birds. When a flock of starlings landed in our backyard, it looked like a scene from the Hitchcock film. I think it looks creepier (though a little washed out) in black and white. Athena and Dawn are sisters.

Tucker the terrier sits with his ever-present ball.

Calvin watching the sunset…and birds.

I <3 Elsa Clair, particularly when she curls up in the perfect way to create a heart with her markings. (She’s Calvin’s sister.)
Check out the other bloggers who challenged themselves to create great black and white photos!

Golden Hello to everyone 🙂 Welcome to Black n White Sunday Blog Hop. Wow on Elsa Clair. Happy Black n White Sunday. Wishing you a wonderful Holiday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Thanks. Happy holidays to you, too. Elsa Clair knows just how to tug at my heart. But then again, don’t they all?
That’s some pack. The 1st picture certainly is “black and white” isn’t it?

Exactly. Lilah really makes me work for every picture in the snow.
Welcome to B&W Sunday. That’s a handsome cast of characters you have there. I look forward to seeing more of them!
Thanks. We’re looking to become more involved in the pet blogging community. With such a large fur family, it’s not hard to find topics to blog about or photo opportunities to take advantage of.
What a beautiful family you have! Happy Holiday from me and The Returns!
Thank you! There might be a lot of fur in the house, but they certainly offer up tons of ideas of stories, blog posts and photos!
Hi! Nice to meet you. What a great family you have there and they photograph so beautifully.
I love the way these black and whites turned out. They are awesome!
Have a Merry Christmas!
Thank you. It’s the first time I experimented with black and white since college days and dark rooms. I won’t say how long ago that was. 😉 A Merry Christmas to you and your team as well!
Lucky you to have so many furry babies! The shot of Elsa Clair is just stunning.
Aw thanks. I think I’m lucky, too. They provide great ideas to write about. That photo of Elsa Clair means a lot to me; she was really sick as a kitten and it’s awesome to see her thrive.
Beautiful pictures and family! I don’t do well in B&W either! Love Dolly
Thank you! With two black and white cats and one solid black dog, you’d think it might be easy, but it’s actually quite challenging. Have a great B&W Sunday and a wonderful holiday!
Welcome to Black and White Sunday! What a wonderful family you have! I thought the black and white kitty was actually *two* kitties at first! I love the terrier doggie sitting in the snow with his ball! Looks like you really captured their essences !

Thanks! I tried to choose pix that reflected their personalities. Tucker the terror–er, terrier–lives to play ball. I thought he looked so lonely sitting in the empty yard waiting for someone, anyone to throw it again. And again. Etc. And Elsa Clair (the heart kitty) has enough personality for two. She may be small (she was sick as a kitten, and probably the runt of the litter), but she makes up for it with feistiness and charm.
I LOVE the heart! Happy B&W Sunday! Meghan
Thanks! Elsa Clair has to be positioned Just Right in order for me to see it, but I know it’s there. Happy BWS to you, too!
What beautiful animals! I love the window perch the cats sit on. I think my Nick would have loved that spot. He loved being in the bay window and watching the birds flock to the feeder. Great set of photos!
Thanks! The cats love the perch too. What’s even more fun is I bought it for $10 at an estate sale. I think it’s a part from an old time sewing machine. Doesn’t matter where it came from, the cats think it’s perfect because it’s just the right size to look out the window. 😀
Wholly black dog on white snow!! That’s definitely a challenge for sure! Hello cute dogs and cats :)Have a merry week ahead!
Yes, Lilah offers quite a photographer’s challenge. Hello back and have a merry week yourselves!
Great pack!!! Love the snow, hope we get some!
Thanks! Our snow is all gone and it doesn’t look there’s any more coming soon. Hoping there’s more coming. We haven’t yet built our winter snow dogs yet!
