Photo: Why it’s hard to leave

Two dogs looking very sad because they don't want me to leave

This is what I see nearly every morning. They lay at the top of the stairs, sigh, and look sad.

There is usually some variation involving some combination of three dogs and four cats.  They always know when I’m leaving.

And this is way I’m nearly always late. I have to run back and give them snuggles and pets, and get wags and kisses (and in the case of the kitties, head rubs and purrs.)

What about you? Do you run back to say goodbye to your dogs, cats or other pets?

So sweet, yet sad at the same time.

I know that’s such a hard moment. My whole day is ruined when I have to leave a sad Easy behind.

  4. When I used to work at a real job, the boys always made me feel so bad about leaving them. Bentley would open his kennel and sit inside. It was very helpful, but just broke my heart. I have had to wipe mascara from under my eyes more than once because of silent tears when I arrived on my job. They are now one of the best parts of working from home.

  5. Oh what sad faces. We give the mom sad faces too…just to make her feel bad about leaving. 😉

Thankfully, Shiner is a late sleeper and was always asleep when I left for work a few years ago. My human kids were the reason why I was always late to work it seems!

My wife bought a mini wiener puppy a few years ago. She was our first house dog and it was against my wishes. I never liked little dogs or any dog in the house at that time. At that time we both worked jobs away from home and it was really hard to leave her in the mornings especially when she gave you those sad puppy eyes look. Thankfully she adjusted and so did we but those first few months were hard on us as it was on our puppy. I never knew just how attached you could become to a dang dog. Having them in the house eating with you and setting on the sofa next to you while you watch football is just a bond I never knew. I raise huskies and do it full time now so she gets to be with me or my wife every moment of every day so it’s easy for her now. BTW I even suggested rescuing another young wiener dog pup so now we have 2 spoiled house dogs lol.

  8. When I used to just have one cat, I ALWAYS ran back to say good-bye again. Now that I have a dog and a cat I don’t. The reason I don’t is because Dakota would lose his mind if I came BACK and then left again.
