Photo: Looking up
TweetOne of Lilah’s favorite places to sleep is at the bottom of the stairs, with her head resting on the first step.
Don’t ask me why.
The floor is cold and hard.
The only thing I can figure is that the step is a combination of the right height and a soft spot to rest her head.
Whatever the reason, many trips down the stairs end on the penultimate (always looking for an excuse to use that term and yes, I am a word nerd) step, where I ask Ms. Lilah if perhaps she could move so I can continue my trip without…err…tripping.
This is the look she gives me on such occasions.
And usually I just step right over her. She doesn’t even blink.
What inconvenient places do your pets like to sleep?
This post is part of the Black and White Sunday blog hop. Take some time to visit some of the great posts listed below.
What a cute place to sleep! Phod prefers the hard cold floor to beds most of the time . . . must feel good!
Sometimes I think the coolness is important–on hot days. But when it’s cold, I just don’t get it.
Sometimes it’s annoying to solve an agility-course when the best friend lays on the “best place”. maybe that’s a special strategy? have a great easter sunday
Thank you! Our “agility course” can get pretty complex with three dogs and four cats lying around. We always have to look where we’re going.
Haha. Our family dog growing up used to do that! 🙂
I guess it’s the headrest thing? Though another dog I had used to sleep at the bottom of the stairway toward our basement. He’d lay all sprawled out and look just like someone threw him down there. Silly dog. 😉
At least she lets you step over her! Huxley’s shepherd instincts make it so he is always sleeping somewhere in the fringe of our flock, which is usually a hallway or doorway. But if you try to step over him he leaps up in a frenzy as if someone is trying to steal a sheep.
Wow. That makes so much sense when you put it that way. Except for the absence of sheep. 😉
That’s so cute.
We found you through ‘Bernie The Frenchie’, and are glad!
Check out our blog sometime about a little Border T and his young owner!
Lots of Woofs from Earl an I at Earl’s World!
Thanks for stopping by! We’ve visited your site several times; we happen to be big fans of terriers! 😀
I think she is just waiting for you to come down so she doesn’t have to climb the stairs, that way she will know where you are going, like the kitchen. I am always under foot, especially at meals I curl up at their feet and they have nowhere to put them! I wonder why I always get stepped on? Love Dolly
You may be right Dolly. She is centrally located at the bottom of the stairs and can keep track of nearly everyone from there.
Dakota doesn’t sleep in my way, but he has this annoying habit of circling me (a herding dog thing), when I am trying to walk and it takes all of my coordination not to trip over him!
Ah, the herding instinct. If only it didn’t get in your way.
Pets always seem to find their favorite spots… right in the way! MOL! What an adorable picture though.
And then we all walk around them, right? As it should be. 😉
Does on my legs count?
They most certainly do. Lilah sometimes lays on people’s feet–just certain special ones. And you feel so bad when you want to move, don’t you?
Beautiful picture of a beautiful dog!
Thanks! She’s beautiful and a sweetheart too. 😀
Those eyes are amazing!
Thank you. She has the most expressive eyes.
In the middle of the door!!! And then I will accidentally kick my foot on the doorjamb while trying to avoid kicking her as she raises her head!!! 😛 Ouch!
The middle of a doorway is a favorite spot of my pups too. I always thought it was because I couldn’t get by without them noticing.
Beautiful photo! It is inconvenient when my cats decide to sleep in the middle of the hallway at night. They often get tripped over, but still haven’t learned.
