Photo: Bad moon rising
TweetWordless Wednesday
Before I lived with cats, I don’t think I would have truly understood what this look meant:
Particularly when it’s waiting for me at the top of the stairs:
In the words of John Fogerty:
I see a bad moon arisin’
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin’
I see bad times today
(Read the full lyrics or see the video of Creedence Clearwater Revival. And you’re welcome for today’s earworm.)
Are there certain looks or expressions that your pets have that you know mean trouble is a brewin’?

I see a cat ready to pounce!
Yup! On the first thing that comes up the stairs. 😉
I love that face. And that’s a pretty good ear worm for the day.
Thank you. Glad you like the ear worm. I’ve been singing it all day myself. 😀
What a CUTE photo and expression. Happy BlogPaws WW. Golden Woofs
Thank you! It’s cute, but about to pounce on something–or someone. 😀
That face is so cute…and yet, scary at the same time. If I were you, I would not be venturing up the stairs any time soon. BOL
Happy WW,
Oz
You are so right! Elsa Clair is adorable, but she is, ounce for ounce, the most mischievous creature in the house. All dogs and cats wouldn’t dare go up the stairs if they saw that face peering down at them. And even the humans would travel at their own risk.
Mr. N has a “restless” face. And I know I need to do something with him before he starts pestering me!
I believe that! Terriers need to be busy, or they’ll find their own way to be busy. 😉
elsa claire…we hope ewe dinna hafta hold that position two long and one oh de DAWGS… got it….sorree pupz !! 🙂
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), the dogs were smart enough to not even try to venture up the stairs. The three other cats didn’t attempt it either. That lovely “I’m gonna pounce you” look was wasted.
that is, without a doubt, the best face! however, i don’t think i’d venture up those stairs.
Thanks. Elsa Clair is the Empress of The Look. And you’d best watch out when she looks that way. 😉
…aaaaand…POUNCE!
Exactly! You know that face, right? 😀
I know what that look means! I have seen that many many times. One should beware of that look from the top of the stairs 🙂
Don’t you know it! I don’t think anyone in my house would dare go up the stairs with that look staring down at us. 😉
Great photo – the only thing we couldn’t see is the swishing tail!
And you know it was there!
look out. cute photos.
Look out is right! That cat may be adorable but she’s a pouncer!
MOL MOL MOL!
😀
Great stair guarder!
That she is, that she is!
Hahahahahaha! Love it!
She is a funny little cat, our Elsa Clair. 😀
We MOL’d at that one!!! That picture on the top of the stairs is priceless!
Thanks! It’s one of those moments you see but rarely catch in a photo!
That is PERFECT. Elasa Clair is so ready to pounce! 🙂
Thank you! I used to think cats were hard to read, but there are moments when their intentions are written in headline-size letters. 😀
Looks like he’s ready to pounce. Great photos.
Thanks. And yes she is!
I know when Memphis is getting ready to cause mischief when he’s eyeing one of our other cats, he gets the quirky little head tilt going, and his tail twitches a bit faster than normal.
Belle usually gives me a vocal warning more than a look, she starts to chitter and chirp when shes feeling frisky.
Also Claire has quirky little head tilt too. It’s usually she seen when she’s extremely interested in something or about to cause a whole bunch of trouble. 😉
LOL.. I think I like the far away pict better..
Thank you! It looks like whoever is coming up the stairs is about to be pounced.
Huahaha look at that face!!
The far away one looks like he is about to jump over you
Thank you! Jumped over or jump on!
