A Touching Moment

Black and White Sunday

A touching moment between my elderly dad and my cat Calvin

A week ago, we buried my father.

I can’t say I’m at a loss for words. Instead, I have too many. I want to tell stories about my dad. I want to write about who who he was. I want to talk about what he meant to me, to my children, to the students he taught, and to the people he met.

I’ll write a lot more in tomorrow’s post.

Today, though, I’ll let one of my photos speak for me–a touching moment between my dad and Calvin.

After more than a week of darkness, Life with Dogs and Cats is back. It seems appropriate to ease into blogging through the Black and White Sunday blog hop. I find black and white photography can capture emotions in ways that color sometimes cannot. Please take a moment and visit some of the other bloggers below who are participating in the hop today.

What a sweet photo and memory for you. I loved watching my dad interact with our dogs – he loved them so and couldn’t have any because of my mom’s allergies. Thanks for sharing with us. Glad you are back.

So sorry for your loss. I always believe that animals are such good judges of character. It is clear that your Dad was important to everyone in your life. Thoughts and love to you and your family in this difficult time <3

So sorry for your loss. Very sweet photo and memory you have. I never got to know Mom’s dad which makes her sad as he loved animals, especially scruffy looking dogs.

  7. Sorry to hear about your dad. That’s a lovely photo.

  8. I know we said this on your FB post, but our sincere condolences on losing your dad. Mom lost hers when he was still quite young so we understand how hard it is to lose your dad. But if yours was an animal lover like ours was, we always think of him up above with mom’s old cat Danny and their childhood dog Lucy. Love Dolly

I am so terribly sorry Susan. I lost my dad when I was 18 and I can relate to wanting to tell stories and remembering your dad. I hope you will share them. I have always told friends that they should never be afraid to speak about their loved one with others. It helps to remember and cherish them. It doesn’t matter how old you are, losing a parent is very hard. I am so sorry he is gone from your life.

    Beautiful and very touching photo.
