Pussycat pussycat, where have you been?
TweetPerhaps you’ve heard the old nursery rhyme:
Pussycat pussycat, where have you been?
I’ve been up to London to visit the Queen.
Pussycat pussycat, what did you there?
I frightened a little mouse under her chair.
I thought of this old poem from my childhood when Athena showed up looking like this:
She had dust and cobwebs hanging from her whiskers. I wondered what corner of my house she stuck her face in, to come away with those dusty decorations.
That’s when the poem came to mind. Of course me being me, I rewrote it:
Pussycat pussycat, where have you been?
I’ve been hiding behind the washing machine.
Pussycat pussycat, what did you there?
I found a collection of dust and pet hair.
I think it’s time for me to bring out the dust mop.
What kind of places do your pets get into?

It’s such a wonder what our pets get up to when we aren’t around.
I’m not sure I always want to know what they’re doing…
I remember that poem too! Don’t worry about the dust – who dusts behind their washer and dryer anyway. I’m afraid to go behind mine LOL Thanks for sharing, I’m smiling…
Jack & Maggie don’t wander too much, but Tino got stuck in the crawl space under our house once. He just wandered in there…and he was blind at the time.
Bailey’s pretty mellos but Katy gets into everything.
Ha! Love the alternate lyrics! Very funny!
Fortunately my old cat doesn’t go into the dirty corners anymore! Love the dust!
Hahaha. Cute! Reminds me… Once we visited my mother in law while she was cat sitting. She was convinced the cat had escaped! We finally found it up *inside* the fold out couch!
He doesn’t really get into weird places but because he’s so small, it’s easy to miss him.
MOL, that’s great! The cobwebs always find whiskers and eyelashes, but we didn’t realize there was a poem about it!
the dust mop are you sure?? so extreme! What’s a little dust?
LeeAnna at not afraid of color
at the first look I thought that’s smoke and you have a cigarette (yes, glasses are on the wishlist for my momma LOL)
Great photo and superior rewrite. We often come in from the catio looking exactly like that! Ho, ho, ho, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
