From under the kitchen table, Calvin has a great view out the sliding glass doors on to the deck.
One of the interesting things about living with cats is that they often find new places to hang out. A newspaper on the floor becomes a bed. A keyboard–while you’re typing on it–is a lounge. You pull out a chair from under the table and it’s already occupied.
Of course dogs can be creative in their hangouts, too. Tucker army crawls under the bed. Lilah likes to sleep underneath my desk. And Rosie, when she was with us, used to lay halfway up the stairs, where she could watch keep an eye on everything that was going on in the house.

It’s true! We are always amazed by the places our cats find comfortable. 🙂
Mr. N loves the ledge by the rear window in the car.
They do like to pick unusual lounging places, don’t they? Prince likes to lay on the back of the couch so he can see out the window. This is annoying for two reasons. 1. My window always has nose art and requires constant cleaning 2. He barks at anything he sees which is very often.
Nadie likes to lay right under my feet which isn’t to bad until I trip over her. Which I do at least once a day.

Our cat “hangs out” in closets, chairs, his cat tower, window sills, my desk, many strange spots, our dog hangs out under the coffee table and under the dining room table lol
We like to hang out on the cooktop….much to the mom’s displeasure.
Yikes! That’s one place we highly discourage any feline exploration.
My cats like to get inside the couch. Not just underneath it… INSIDE it. They have made holes in the liner on the underside of the couch, and they climb up in it. If I can’t find them anywhere, I know that’s where they must be. When I look under the couch, I see a droopy lump where the cat is sleeping. So silly!

Lol. I love the meme about boxes being “cat traps” because it’s so true. If we have an empty box or bag sitting in the house, you can guarantee the cat will find it. Our big dog finds weird places to hang out – he sleeps under the bed, often sits halfway up the stairs and the other day while we were visiting my parents we found him snoozing in the walk in closet.
It’s so true about boxes. All of my cats love boxes, particularly if you put crinkly paper in them. That makes them even more attractive.
