Story: Artify Your Cat
TweetIf you love art and cats, the place to be in January of this year was Cat Art Show Los Angeles. Billed as a “meditation and a celebration of the feline form,” the exhibition of cats in art went “beyond heralding felines as domesticated companion,” to exploring our feline friends as both inspirations and muses.
As an east coaster, I did not have an opportunity to travel out to LA for the show, which featured works from more than sixty artists, including Brandon Boyd, Christian Furr, Gary Baseman, Kimberly Brooks , Marc Dennis, Marion Peck , Martin Eder, SageVaughn, Shepard Fairey and Tim Biskup.
Cat Art Show was a resounding success, both critically and popularly acclaimed. So much so that curator Susan Michals is planning a second show. In the meantime, Cat Art Show is holding an Artify Your Cat Instagram contest.
To enter, all you have to do is “artify” a cat photo by using one or more of three smartphone apps ( Repix, Camera360, or HelloCamera) and post the results to Instagram with hashtags for the app or apps you used and both #catartshow and #catartshowla.
The artified cat photos will be judged and weekly winners will receive a Cat Art Show LA poster. The grand prize winner will receive a Radical Cat print signed by Shepard Fairey.

Love “Dark and Light” and “Surrealist Cat”! I have been having such fun with the contest too. I’ve done four pics already and am using the Hello Camera app. It’s sooooo addicting. I never thought you could combine apps. This could get dangerous. LOL
