Haiku by Cat: Centered
Tweet
Today’s haiku is by Elsa Clair.
I think cats are born with an innate ability to be centered.
And by centered, I mean “in the middle.”
As in, when I’m trying to cook, at least one cat is centered in the kitchen floor.
A feline lounges halfway up the stairs, usually with a flicking tail, meaning there is no easy way to set a foot on the occupied step without risking injury to all.
When I would like to read The New Yorker (Yes, I still get a paper magazine; don’t judge) and instead I’m looking at a cat positioned perfectly across two pages, so I cannot read anything except the words at the far right of the column, or half a cartoon and unintelligible shreds of its caption.
Cats are intentional creatures. When they want to be in a place, they are focused on being there, being aware, and being in the moment. They are exactly where they should be, and they occupy their spot with a zen-like mindfulness, completely sure that they are in the middle of everything, and the world revolves around them.
They may be right about that last part.
Are your cats centered?

So very true! And you said it so well. And they have to be in the center for the world to revolve around them! lol
