Haiku by Dog: Stick

Haiku by Dog: throw the stick and I / will bring it back, but first you / have to get it

Today’s haiku is by Tucker.

You can chew on it.

Run with it.

Play fetch with it.

It’s perfect for a game of tug.

Or keepaway.

If it breaks, you can always find another one.

Sticks.

Quite possibly the best toy ever.

Do your pets like sticks? Even my cats do, on a smaller scale.

It’s funny that none of the dogs I’ve had have ever been interested in sticks, even when we tried throwing one for them. They’ve all just stood there and looked up at us like “Really? I only chase balls.” That’s a really cute pic of Tucker!

    • At first Tucker thought sticks were not as much fun as balls. But in the winter, if you throw a ball when the ground is covered with soft snow, it sinks. Sticks stay on top. That’s why he learned to like sticks. Good all year and best in winter. But balls are his favorite.

    Great haiku. 🙂

Our cats, and many at the shelter, love playing with ball point pens. Go figure!

  4. The best toys are those that aren’t really supposed to be toys. I like playing with the stick part of wand toys. ~Ernie
