Today’s Haiku By Cat is by Dawn.
It’s been said about potato chips…and cats: you can never have just one. I have four — cats, that is. I won’t disclose the number of potato chips I had.
Excuse me while I brush the cat fur and crumbs from my lap.
As for Dawn, she’d say you can never have just one…cat toy.
Toys go in and out of favor. Today’s “My preciousssss” is tomorrow’s “What squeaky mouse?” Until it’s the best thing ever again. Or until another cat wants it.
How many cat toys do we have?
It’s hard to know exactly. Depends on how you ask it:
How many cat toys are currently visible? (This discounts the ones under the couch, the bed, the throw rug.)
How many cat toys are put away in the Drawer of Magical Things? (Much to my cats’ dismay, toys with strings, feathers and elastic are only brought out under supervision.)
How many cat toys are electronic? (It’s not that I’m lazy; I have four cats and two arms. The math doesn’t add up. An automatic laser or string toy can amuse whomever is not currently occupied by my two appendages.)
How many duplicate cat toys do I have put aside to replace any one of the current favorites? (“I found one she likes! Quick! Get ten more!” In case it gets lost or one of the dogs decides it’s better as a dog toy.)
How many new cat toys do I have that I bought but haven’t tried out yet? (I’m waiting for that perfect moment to bring it out in the hopes that it will not be spurned like the 4763 previous toys.)

We have a toy box full of dog and cat toys, but no, I will not count them and affirm the notion that i am a crazy pet person.
SO. MANY. TOYS! A basket full, a drawer full, scattered around the house, under the coach, behind the stove… I don’t even want to know how many toys we have.
I’m so with you… and I wish could make a bed with my toys too…

Sure wish we could have cat toys because Bert loves them, but since he eats them after a few minutes, no can do.
We have toys on top of our toys. There isn’t a room in our house that doesn’t have a toy or two or three or more in it.
Daisy has a bunch of toys too, but she loves them all. The only toy she hasn’t liked so far is a little football, but I think it’s because she can’t really get a grip on it. Or maybe she’s just too girly for a football LOL. And, to add to your list – you can’t have just one M&M either! (At least I can’t!) 🙂
