Text From Cat: I Hear You

#TextFromCat: I can hear you, you know. You may think I'm ignoring you because my back is turned. But I hear every word, including "V.E.T." So Good luck finding me this afternoon.

They know. They always know.

You can try to be all kinds of sneaky, even resorting to spelling when talking about an upcoming trip to the veterinarian. But the cats know and will make themselves pretty darn scarce when it’s time to pack them up and take them to the V.E.T.

That said, we’ve been working on making it a bit easier on all of us. For one, we use Sleepypod mobile pet beds as our cat carriers. (Yes, Sleepypod is a sponsor of this blog, but we were fans of the carriers long before they became a sponsor.) The beds stay out all the time, and the cats love them and sleep in them. Of course I’ve encouraged that, giving them treats when they’re in the beds, and generally making their beds a happy place for them. So when it comes time to go to the vet, it’s pretty easy to just zip the top on and off we go.

Bringing a cat to the vet can be so much less stressful than most cat parents think. Of course, there’s a lot more to it than the right carrier. I’ve written several posts about how to make trips to the vet easier on everyone, including one that won an award from the AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners), entitled Almost as Good as a Spa Day: Taking Your Cat to the Vet Doesn’t Have to Be Stressful

So, even though Dawn knows there’s a trip to the vet on the day’s agenda, it will probably be easier to find her this time.

August 22 is Bring Your Cat To The Vet Day

Studies show that people bring their cats to the veterinarian less often than they bring their dogs. Yet regular wellness visits can help your cat live a longer, healthier life—and save you money—by possibly uncovering problems before they become too serious and expensive.

If your cat hasn’t had a wellness visit recently, call your vet and make an appointment today.

Celebrate your cats by taking them to the vet.

We doggies know it too!!! BUTTS, the kittehs are better (and more able) to hide than we are. Ma always finds me…butts, I admit, I come running, cause I can’t resist a ride in my truck! I don’t even care if I’m goin’ to the vettie ~ just don’t go into the back room…nothing good EVER happens back there…..

My little Chester can always sense when it’s vet time. Not sure if it’s the tone of my voice, the look in my eyes, my body language or something that I do prior to getting him ready. Treats always help rounding him up but he’s always so nervous on the drive to the vet. I may look into the sleepypods.
