Text from Dog: The mailman’s here!
TweetThe dogs can tell the when mail truck — and the UPS truck for that matter — is coming down the street, even before the driver turns into our driveway.
It is cause for copious amounts of barking and wagging, and celebratory howls.
I’m not exactly sure why it’s such an event. Maybe it’s because years ago, our UPS driver used to bring dog biscuits when he came. But he’s since moved on, or to another route, and our current carriers and delivery people don’t come pre-loaded with treats.
I do have a theory, though.
I think the dogs remember our carrier from way back when. And because of his kindness, they believe that anyone who comes to the door might bring something tasty, that anyone at anytime might show up and be nice.
Dogs are eternal optimists.
Do you agree? Is your pet an optimist?

I bet they DO remember! 🙂
Our cats are optimists, too. Whenever we go into the kitchen, they follow us in, as though it’s time for dinner!
Oh yes, we’re optimists. Every time mom goes in the kitchen one of us follows in case she’ll get the treats out.
Daisy definitely remembers things – people, places, all kinds of things. She hasn’t been to my parents’ house in 2 years but once we got there, she knew exactly where she wanted to go – to the back door because the patio and pool were just outside. And she’s definitely optimistic that everyone she meets will be as thrilled to meet her as she is to meet them. 🙂
Yuppers! Of course we remembers! Anyone who brings us foodables is tops fursure!!! Then again, I just bark because the box is usually for ME! ☺
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
