Text from Dog: Minding her business
TweetThere are several choices when the dogs and I go for a walk. Turning left out of the driveway means we’re heading to the woods. A right turn means we’re going through the neighborhood — and there are myriad routes to choose from.
Sometimes I make the decisions, based on time of day (needing to avoid hot pavement in the sun, or extra traffic during rush hour) or if other dog walkers are out (depending on whether we know the dog and his or her behavior), or if I just need to avoid that long hill today after yesterday’s physical therapy session. Other times, I let the dogs choose.
Either way, they know the routes, and while we tend to walk at a steady clip, there are a few stops along the way that are required. Kind of like the ice cream store you have to visit every time you and the kids come home from a trip to Grandma and Grandpa.
Thus it has become a tradition to stop at a certain hydrant on a particular street, and check in at one specific telephone pole on another. Because you really don’t want to get behind on your pee mail.
Do you and your pets have routines or traditions?

Daisy definitely has her preferences on her walks – left out of the driveway, cross the street 3/4 of the way down, stop at the corner, observe the goings-on from this prime vantage point, then double back. But sometimes she changes them up a bit and goes in the opposite direction, and it really does seem like she thinks she’s in new territory. Pups can be funny!
We hear all ’bout dat pee mail. Ya’ know a dog’s gotta keep up with da neighborhood. MOL
Luv ya’

It’s true. There are places that are nice to visit, and then there are places you HAVE to visit. 🙂
Mr. N has a particular route he likes to take to the skateboard park.
