Cat art: Cheshire Elsa Clair II
TweetEarlier this year, I joined the Artify Your Cat Instagram contest, in celebration of Cat Art Show LA. Participants had to use one of three iPhone apps to “artify” a cat picture, and then post it on Instagram.
I picked out a few photos, played around with the different apps and posted several of my efforts. I didn’t win, but it inspired me to continue experimenting.
The blog hops Feline Art Friday from Kitty Par-TAY and Caturday Art by Athena and Marie give me reasons every week to test out a new tool, to try a new aspect of Photoshop Elements I hadn’t used before, and to have fun.
I’ve learned so much since I first started artifying my cat that I decided to go back to one of the photos I submitted to that contest–one I was never completely happy with–and see if I could improve upon it.
The result is below:
You can see the original version–and the other entries I came up with–in the story I posted about the contest.
Below is the photo I started with.
Today I’m participating in both the blog hops mentioned above. Be sure to stop by and see all the pretty kitties–and other animals–featured.

For a moment, I thought I was looking at Boomer except that Boomer’s black tear is on his left eye. 🙂
Nice work artifying Elsa Clair’s picture.
I really like that art image. It looks like a rubber stamp image. I’d use it.
That is so amazingly cool!
Oh I love this one!
I too got hooked on artifying my cat photos from that Cat Show LA contest – I think because I like to consider myself a creative person without one whit of drawing skills. LOL Turning my photos into art is so fun and satisfies that creative streak.
Which apps have you been using? I’m still using my Hello Camera app but would love to know if another one is better!
Wow, really love it…that is gorgeous! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
WOW! That art image is beautiful! 🙂 Have a nice Sunday, sweeties! 😀 xx Roxy & Tigerlino <3
I think that is great, Susan. So artistic while not losing the expression of the original photo. Wish I was even half as talented. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo and hugs, Janet
Thank you for posting this to Feline Art Friday, hope to see you back soon:
