Visual Purr
TweetA little wooden stepstool sits in front of my dining room window, set there to provide convenient seating for my cats to watch the creatures who pass through our front yard.
I have photos of each of them perched in the same spot. Different seasons. Different times of day. Different lighting.
This one touches me more than the others.
In black and white, with the shadows of the trees draped over the snow, and a serene Athena framed artfully, the photo feels like the visual embodiment of a cat’s purr.
Serenity. Contentment. Warmth.
There is nothing more calming than a purring cat curled up in your lap, and one of the things that makes me love them so. [Tweet]

I agree….there is nothing more peaceful than a purring cat. Beautiful photo.
Thank you. 😀
Wonderful! So peaceful and tranquil.
Tranquil! Thank you. Great word. That’s what the photo seems to express. Tranquility.
What a beautiful post! Happy b&w Sunday!
Thank you!
it looks like home for me, it’s wonderful :o)
It does have a homey feel. It reminds me of paintings by Andrew Wyeth.
That’s a beautiful photo and a beautiful post. Mommy says she loves when I sit on her lap and purr. And for Lexy, she loves when she rolls over and shows her belly.
Love,
Lola and Lexy
Aw, that sounds so sweet.
I love this photo. The contrast is beautiful.
Thank you! It’s one of my favorites, I think.
Yep, the mom says our purring can put her to sleep…it’s so relaxing. 🙂
Right! Purring is therapeutic!
Love the picture. Looks so serene 🙂 Pawkisses for an Easy Sunday 🙂 <3
Thank you. It is a very calming scene.
Our front window started out with a small spot for the cat, but then I kept stealing it, so we have the bench where several of us can hang out and watch out the window. Most popular spot in the house!
That’s what our back window looks like. A big bench where several cats and a couple of dogs can all fit.
Mum totally agrees ! Purrs
Thank you!
I could start purring here myself… and I’m a DOG! *wags* – Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com
That’s okay. We’re all friends here. Purr away.
I love that photo. What a wonderful view of the world your cats get to enjoy.
Thank you!
Its a beautiful picture! She’s realized that Rhette is not a lap cat, but a flop cat. He just flops on you and stays wherever he lands! Which is what she loves about him of course. Love Doly
Some cats like laps and some don’t. My Elsa Clair, who’s been with us two years now, has just started laying on my lap. Sparingly. And only mine. Cats. They’re like that.
That is perfecfion!
Aw, thanks. I really love that photo.
Beautiful photo!
Astrid spends a major portion of her day in Mom’s lap and when she decides to do something else, it makes Mom very sad. This is a lovely B&W photo. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
