Photo: Portrait of a cat
TweetI felt like being extra creative today, and spent way too much time trying to find an app that would help me turn a photo into something that looked painted or drawn. I was pretty sure Photoshop Elements would do it for me at the click of a button, but I couldn’t get it to work. So I settled for an iPad app called ArtistsTouch.
The result is this halfway decent “painting” of Athena. I like it.
To create a “painting,” you upload a picture, and the app turns it into a blueprint–that you can then “paint,” choosing the medium, brush size and other elements.
Here’s the original I was working from.
Today I’m joining the Caturday Art Blog Hop, which is hosted by another cat named Athena. To view her work–and others, go to her site, Athena, Cat Goddess.

You did a pawsome job. That really looks like a painting!
Thanks! The app is pretty cool. The brush strokes are mine, but, for the most part, the app provides the color. It was fun to play with.
The original is just as pretty as the art one…beautiful kitty…
Thank you. Athena was in the right place at the right time–and the lighting was perfect. It felt like the right photo to play with. Thanks for compliment about Athena. Now she’ll be even more full of herself–if that’s possible. 😉
Really love your painted picture! Very nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by. (Congrats on being a BlogPaws Best Blog Post Finalist!)
Thank you! I love cats and I appreciate art–and the artists. Not only are the pictures neat in this hop, but I always learn something!
Beautiful!
Thank you. Most appreciated as one cat goddess to another. 😉
that’s beautiful
Thanks. I love how Lilah’s eyes are closed as she catches the scent. 🙂
