Photo: The Help
TweetI walked away from my desk for one minute and came back to this trio. Notice the upside down quilted pad to the right of my laptop. It’s strategically positioned to keep Elsa Clair off my keyboard, which she usually tries to lie down on–while I’m typing.
How do your pets help you write or get work done? And just how “helpful” are they?
This is a blog hop! Check out some of the great pictures and blogs below…

Looks like you have a strong editorial committee there! My Bug “helps” by distracting me often, preventing me from concentrating too hard! And in winter she keeps my lap warm…
“Editorial committee.” Exactly. 😀
Love the tower bed. Jack & Maggie both have beds in my office and pretty much spend the day here with me while I work.
Elsa Clair and Calvin take turns in the hammock/tower bed. Dawn is either on my lap or elsewhere on the desk. And all three dogs are on the floor, Lilah usually curled up by my feet.
It would seem you have inspiration all around you when you are writing!
Happy WW,
Oz
I’m surrounded and I love it! Usually 6 out of the 7 animals in my house crowd into my tiny office. Athena (the cat) visits now and again, but doesn’t stay.
only thing we see missin iz three snax trays filled with treetz anda few ham samiches & donuts !!! enjoy yur day
Samiches! The cats try to steal then off the kitchen table when nobody is looking.
Jack likes to lay his head on my hand as I am typing, so I so totally know the feeling 🙂 I love the set up you have and how nicely they are sharing your space.
Calvin does the same thing. He curls up in my lap and lays his head on my hand. Then I have the cat writer’s dilemma: keep typing and disturb the warm and purring cat or enjoy the moment.
Lol! Love your pad strategy 🙂 Niles usually curls up under my desk while I’m editing our videos or blogging.
Sometimes I have to put the pad on the keyboard when I walk out of the room. Then if someone (usually Elsa Clair) lays on it, I can slide her right off. 😉
What a hard-working trio!
Napping is hard work for cats. They take it very seriously. 😉
The tower bed thing is a BRILLIANT idea! I’m thinking that might work to entice Newt to sit somewhere other than on my keyboard… Thank you for the inspiration! My workspace normally has Cooper and Newt on the chair in front of me and Lucas and Emmett on beds next to my desk. It’s certainly cozy!
Aw, thanks! My cats kept getting into Discussions about who got to sleep in front of the window, so I thought a small tower would help…and it did!
Mr. N likes to type on the computer or try to sleep on the keyboard part.
One day Mr. N is going to write a novel that way. 😉
What a great trio of writing assistants you have. I usually have helpers when I’m on the computer too!
They are ever so helpful. They love to correct my sentences by walking across the keyboard.
We can see you’re gonna get a lot of work done! We like to help the mom by standing right in front of the ‘puter screen. 😉
The old “you make a better door than a window” routine. How can you see the screen when there’s a dog head or a cat body in the way? 😉
That is some entourage you got. Rino just likes to weave in and out between my two monitors and tries to catch that annoying little cursor arrow for me.
My kitties love the cursor!
I also have beds strategically placed around my computer to encourage Tuxedo Jack to sleep there instead of my keyboard… as I’m typing. Then I have Cooper the Cattledog resting his head on the wheels of my rolling chair more often than not. all of it delightful and wonderful 😉
Exactly! I love having my furry family around me when I’m writing–cats and dogs. Even when their helpfulness isn’t very helpful. 😉
LOL! This is too cute. You’ve got quite the support group/fan club! 😉
Thanks! The photo doesn’t show the 3 dogs sleeping on the floor by my feet. 😀
Looks like everyone is hard at work! Cinco and Manna are always “helping” me with my blog. Usually Cinco will worm his way onto my lap and Manna will climb down into my shirt from the neck hole. They don’t try to lay on the keyboard very often, but they do lay on the mouse cord or right in front of the monitor. Manna loves to sit on the printer and watch things print too.
It is amazing how much “help” cats can be when one is writing…;-)
