Athena the cat warmed by the sun on the stairs

Athena rules the stairs.

There’s a certain magical moment when the sun enters our home and pours a cascade of delicious warmth down the stairs. It doesn’t last long, but the cats always seem to know when it occurs.

Even though the sunfall covers several steps — each of which dispenses enough toastiness to comfortably accommodate your average domestic feline — only one cat at a time is ever found basking in the stream.

Apparently one stair rules them all.

For this I am glad, because on my way up or down, I only have to step over a single unmoving — and offended — cat.

What are your pets favorite hangouts?
