Once More, With Feeling: Snow Again

I’ve declared winter’s end several times. I apologized to Mother Nature. And Fate. And Mr. Murphy. But winter here in New Jersey continues. One encore snowfall after another.

It’s like the proverbial swan song…a goodbye that is beautiful but goes on forever.

With a positive attitude, three dogs and a camera, I went out into the snow last week and looked for beauty and joy.

And found it:

Jasper, Tucker and Lilah in the snow

Jasper, Tucker and Lilah pose in a winter wonderland.

Jasper looks regal against the backdrop of the snow

Jasper, looking regal.

Lilah's nose

If you look carefully, you can see the reflection of blue sky on Lilah’s nose.

Tucker running in snow

Tucker is ready for spring.

Lilah running in the snow

Lilah loves the snow.

Jasper running in the snow

Jasper is happy he’s not running through puddles.

Ok. Found beauty. Found joy.

Now, can I have some spring?

If I wish real hard, when I open my eyes, it will be spring

I agree with Lilah.

I know many other places have been experiencing warmer-than-normal temperatures. Tell me about your weather in the comments. Maybe we’ll finally get just a little bit of warmth.

Those pictures are precious! You gave me my first morning “awww”. 🙂

We were supposed to get a coating to an inch of snow last night, but it must have been a few degrees above freezing, so we just got snow. It’s still cold here though, 32 degrees this morning but it’s supposed to hit 50 at some point later on. SUPPOSED to. 😉 I guess it’s layers again today!

  2. Those are some beautiful pictures…I just wish we had snow for Christmas, not when it’s supposed to be spring!

Here in northern VT it’s just mud, mud, mud…with more rain and snow showers on the way 🙁

  3. Photos are gorgeous, but I for one am done with snow. Can’t do it anymore. I hope your spring finds you soon.

  4. Teresa says:

Wow, that is a lot of snow you’ve still got. I would be very much done with it too. Beautiful pictures, love them all but especially the one of Lilah’s nose.

It is nice to see you are able to put a positive spin on this year’s endless winter. I really like Lilah’s photo and caption.

I guess I shouldn’t tell you it’s going to be 80 degrees here today. Hope Spring shows up soon for you.

  9. Sue says:

Fantastic photos! We had snow flurries 3 days straight, then all of a sudden temps in the 60’s and daffodils blooming. Hang in there, spring really is on the way 🙂

  10. Brrrrrr…. We love your last photo, and we really hope for you that it works ! Purrs

  11. MyDogLikes says:

Even though we are ready to be done, they boys love it! You are so right…Even in the midst of an everlasting winter, you can find beauty and joy!

  12. Elaine says:

It has been a loooong winter, hasn’t it? It’s warmer here now in Ohio and snow is almost a distance memory, thank goodness! 🙂

I hope spring finds you soon!

  13. Wow! Those pictures are amazing!!!

  14. Kitties Blue says:

Oh wow, that just doesn’t seem right; though, when Mom lived in Kansas City it snowed once on April 10. But…that still doesn’t make it right. Our temps have been all over the place, one day the high will be in the upper thirties and the next it will be 70 degrees. A crazy winter indeed. Nonetheless, your photos are as beautiful as ever. I hope that spring comes for you soon! We are sick of winter here too, but we are a little further along than you guys. Gorgeous photos 🙂

  18. Emma says:

We’d take snow over heat any day!

  19. Good for you that you were able to find beauty and joy in the snow even though you’re done with winter. I’m sure spring is just around the corner.

  20. Somehow that just seems so wrong….

  21. Sand Spring Chesapeakes says:

All the pictures are great but that third one down with the snow on the nose is out of this world. Pinned!

  22. Ruby says:

Oh, those photos are FABulous!!!! How I wish I could do some snow zoomies!!! Yuppers, it’s been LOTS warmer than normal here! I don’t want to make you wince, butts it’s been Spring all Winter long! I don’t think we dipped below freezing butt a couple of times. I know that sounds amazin’ seeing that you guys have seen NOTHING BUTT freezing, butt we DO like our chilly Winter weather! Really! (great…now that I’ve said that, it’s gonna be like the Arctic next year! ☺) Anyhu, I do wish you Spring sooner than later, and a lovely and not too hot Summer!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  23. meowmeowmans says:

So much fun! But we bet your awesome dogs will also have lots of fun once spring really arrives. 🙂

  24. What fabullous pictures! Especially love the one of Lilah’s nose! We are one of those ‘hotter than normal’ places. Bleh. The last few days have been nice, but we’ve had many crazy hot days (like high 80s and 90s. Hate it – that’s not winter weather!). And we’ve had hardly any rain. Not good! Wish I could send you some heat, and you could send us some moisture!

  25. hilary says:

Great shots, but my favorite is the snowy nose!

  26. We’ve been having 70-degree days with sun but I don’t suppose you want to hear about those. We’ve been having some rainy days as well?

  27. sandy says:

It is definitely spring in the San Francisco bay area, but we are also in a record drought. : (

  28. Crepes says:

Has the snow gone away yet? – Crepes.
