If a dog could sing: Throw it Again (Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall)

Throw it Again

Sung to the tune of You’ve Got a Friend

(Written by Carole King. Performed by Carole King on Tapestry and performed by James Taylor on Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon. You can also watch them sing it together. )

When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand

and no one, oh no one is throwing it right.

Wag your tail and paw at me and soon I’ll see you there

and help you set your ball in flight.

You just want to play that game, and you know wherever I am.

You’ll  come running to ask your best friend.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall,

all you want to do is play ball

and I’ll be there

to throw it again.

If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds

and that old north wind should begin to blow,

bring your ball right up to me and start barking really loud.

Soon I’ll know you’re asking for “just one more.”

You just want to play that game, and you know wherever I am.

You’ll  come running to ask your best friend.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall,

all you want to do is play ball

and I’ll be there

to throw it again.

Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend

when other dogs can be so bold.

They’ll race you and they’ll chase you.

Well, they’ll take your ball if you let them, oh yeah, but don’t you let them.

You just want to play that game, and you know wherever I am.

You’ll come running to ask your best friend.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall,

all you want to do is play ball, Dog,

and I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah

to throw it again. Throw it again.

Ain’t it good to know I’ll throw it again?

Oh, yeah, yeah, you’ve got a friend.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you want to do is play ball and I'll be there to throw it again

Very good! Mom’s last dog was into ball games, but she is thankful we are not as it gets tiring after a bit. We get our fill of ball whenever cousin Lena visits. Love that strip of photos at the end.

  3. That’s one thing about woofies…they never get tired of playing ball. 🙂

This is a work of genius – I love it.
Reminds me of my partner, who prides himself that he never fakes the dogs out with the ball. If he’s going to play ball with them, he means it! Says it’s unfair to pretend to throw it…I remain unconvinced – I don’t think they mind really.

  11. Miss Destiny says:

Aww, cute post and pics 🙂
