Cat Lesson #32 in how to toy with your human: stare intently at nothing
TweetWordless Wednesday
Last night, Athena spent several minutes staring intently into a corner of the kitchen.
My curiosity piqued, I knelt down to mirror her perspective to see if I could figure out what the cat was looking at. I moved the porcelain stand. Nothing. Listened at the vent. Nothing.
I turned around to look at Athena.
Nothing.
She had disappeared, most likely slinking off to a perfect vantage point from which a cat could laugh at the human crawling around on the floor.
Works for dogs, too.
What does your pet do that makes you look silly?

This picture gave me my morning laugh! My cats do this to me all of the time. (And I fall for it every time.)
Haha this is SO true!! I think they enjoy making us look silly 😉
BOL!!! Our kitty does this all the time, silly humans fall for it every time! BOL!
I agree that’s a clever trick! I sometimes pretend that I lost something behind the bed… you should see them when they search with a flashlight for nothing… while I build a comfy nest with the bedding :o)

My Athena does that all the time. This morning she was actually looking at something though. A spider in the corner of the ceiling I couldn’t see because it was still dark. It wasn’t too big, thank god.

LOL so creepy!
Mom says they always looked at the light, no idea why. Or she’d look out the window to see what they saw. Not a chance. Love Dolly
If you had the nose of a cat or dog, you would be amazed at what kind of smells are coming out of that vent! Mom has learned a lot about how odors travel, vents are very interesting.
I was thinking about that. And then I started to wonder what might be in my vents. And then I stopped thinking about it. 😉
Rita played this game with me just today. We’re zooming along on the freeway, and she starts growling and staring intently at something in the median. There was nothing there – I know, cuz I looked and looked!
Hahaha. . . we know what you mean. This happens all the time in our house.
We’ve been doing stuff like that lately too. The mom thinks there must be a bug or something that got our attention. We’ll never tell.
Way to fake her out, Athena!!
Ha! Riley does this sometimes too. It creeps me out a little!
MOL! Too funny. Cats are good pranksters.
My girls see so many things I don’t. It creeps me out a bit.
Oh yeah, our cats employ this techinue often. 😉

Mommy always figures we have spotted one of those no-seeum bugs whenever we do this. Or purrhaps we are seeing ghosts of past bugs killed and eaten. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
