Athena, Light & Dark: a tortie with ‘tude

There are two sides of Athena

She’ll ask to be picked up and petted with an irresistibly plaintive meow. She’ll greet visitors at the door along with the dogs — and hop into any convenient lap. She’ll lie on my chest, with her face inches from mine, her eyes offering a slow blinks of love.

She’ll jump up on the counter the moment my back is turned, in the hopes of getting just one bite of hamburger. She’ll own an entire couch, nine pounds of cat turning away a couple hundred pounds of dog. She’ll position herself between Tucker and a potential ball thrower, promising a swat to his muzzle should he dare to walk past.

Same cat.

Sweet and sassy.

Faithful and feisty.

Affectionate and annoyed.

That’s our Athena.

I think this photo captures the two sides of Athena: a tortie with ‘tude.

Cats seem to all be full of catitude which isn’t always amusing to us dogs! Nice shot of kitty, though.

  4. I love that photo and I definitely understand the two personalities. My tabby cat “raised” our dogs! BOL!

  5. Yes! I joke he is all lap dog indoors, all terrier outdoors.

  6. Rama's Mama says:

Aw, what a cute sleeping kitty. 🙂

Athena is beautiful, and she sounds like a complex and multi-faceted kitty. 🙂

  8. Great photo ! Black and white gives it more “intensity” ! Purrs

  9. De Hufford says:

She sounds like some of our cats. We are friends one minute and rivals the next. Do you think this has to do with us trying to steal their food?

  10. The photo definitely catches her ‘tude! Mom had a Torite with lots of attitude too. We haven’t seen you around much lately, sorry if we’ve been missing you. 11. Most torties…and torbies, like our Zoey…have ‘tude. Great picture. 🙂
