Get Free Product Samples for Your Pets During Pet Paw-Looza #PPL

When the folks at Sampler first approached me about participating in their Pet Paw-Looza event, I admit I ignored them. I get approached by brands all the time, and I very rarely respond, let alone say yes. Particularly when it comes to food.

Why?

  • I like what I feed my dogs and cats.
  • I don’t want to experiment on them.
  • I never write about products I wouldn’t use or recommend.
  • Reviews are a lot of work.

Then I saw who the participating brands were. I went to each website and read the ingredients. I said maybe.

When I found out that my readers can get the same free samples I got, I said I’ll think about it.

When I learned that I’ll also be able to raffle off a cool prize in a flash giveaway, I said I might just do it.

Then I learned that the products are for dogs and cats and I said, “Sign me up.”

Here’s the deal. Yes, I am being compensated by the kind folks at Sampler for writing this post. And yes, I used every single product listed here. I would have pulled out of the program if I didn’t like even one of them. I’ve done it before: after being asked to review a product, I’ve written back to the company and told them why I wouldn’t use or recommend it.

I figure my readers and I have a deal: I inform (sometimes) and entertain (most of the time), and you all visit and read and smile and laugh and sometimes comment.

What’s Pet Paw-Looza and how do you get the free stuff?

  • Pet Paw-Looza takes place from May 24th through the 26th.
  • Free samples are given away on each brand’s Facebook pages at specific times.
  • Flash raffles with cool prizes are held on participating blogger’s Facebook pages.
  • A lucky winner chosen from among all participants wins a grand prize.

RSVP now!

RSVP is a traditional acronym for ” Répondez s’il vous plaît,” which is a fancy French way of saying, “Respond please,” or “Let me know if you’re coming to the picnic so I know how many hot dogs to buy.” In this case, it really means Remember Samples for eVery Pet. Okay, so I made that up.

You have to RSVP to:

  • See the calendar of what free stuff is being given away where and when.
  • Learn when the flash raffles are taking place, so you can join in the fun.
  • Be entered into a grand prize drawing to win a gift basket full of pet prizes.

Friends with benefits

Got any friends with pets? Do you follow them on Facebook? Would they like free stuff?

There’s a bit of a catch here, but it’s a fun one. You can’t get the samples yourself; you can only send them to other people. When you go to the brand’s Facebook page at the appointed time, you get to choose up to three lucky Facebook friends (and their pets) to receive the freebies. They can then reciprocate and include you in their list of pet-loving connections that they’d like to send free samples to.

You may want to buddy up with your pet friends ahead of time, so you can set up a “I’ll send you yours if you send me mine” deal.

The free stuff

My dogs and cats loved trying out the free samples. Mostly. I’m not sure Tucker appreciated the bath. But the rest of the family appreciates a less-stinky Tucker.

Here are the brands paw-ticipating in the Pet Paw-Looza:

Bravo Pet Foods freeze dried dinners

Bravo pet food Life with Dogs and Cats

Bravo freeze-dried food was a hit.

I served my dogs a combination of Bravo Pet Food’s freeze dried turkey and beef dinners for their morning meal. I’m a fan of freeze-dried pet food, particularly when you can see (and smell, but I let the dogs taste) the attention to quality nutritious ingredients. Bravo was a huge hit in our house. After I mixed in the water, I had to temporarily hide the food bowls in the microwave oven while I took the dogs outside, because certain cats were sure the meals were for them. A couple of someones were found on the counter sniffing around the bowls.

Riley’s Organics

Riley's organic dog treats

Great treats equals happy dogs.

The ingredients list in Riley’s Organics pumpkin and coconut dog treats (Organic Pumpkin, Organic Oat Flour, Organic  Oats, Organic Peanut Flour, Organic Coconut Oil) tells the story. There’s good stuff in there. I love the tiny-sized biscuits as I’m always looking for small treats to use as rewards. One taste (actually one sniff) and Lilah, Jasper and Tucker were very motivated to pose on command.

Pura Naturals Pet shampoo

Pura Naturals pet shampoo

From stinky dog to fluffy terrier.

Poor Tucker. His wiry terrier fur absorbs odors. My family refers to him as The Stink Dog. Our samples of Pura Naturals Pet were a perfect reason to give our smelly pooch a bath on a warm spring day. I was a little nervous because a previous bath product resulted in an allergic reaction and a trip to the vet. After reading the ingredients in Pura Naturals, I felt confident enough to give it a try. We used the Soothing Chamomile and Lavender shampoo on Tucker. Days later, Tucker’s fur is still soft, he’s less itchy than normal and he actually smells good — not overly perfumed, but clean and huggable. This may have made the bath worthwhile for our very affectionate scruff dog.

Prime Taste Treats cat jerky

Prime Taste Treats cat jerky

Add a little cat jerky and everyone gets along.

While Tucker was outside drying off and the other dogs were breathing a sigh of relief that it wasn’t their turn for a bath, I went inside to give the cats a taste of the cat jerky from Prime Taste Treats. Athena was the first to check them out, and within seconds, the rest of the gang arrived. My cats don’t hate each other, but they don’t love each other either; there tends to be hissing and swatting when they’re in the same room. As a way to teach them that good things happen in the company of other cats, I often give them treats when they’re together. Cut into small pieces, the jerky was perfect for this. Apparently it is so delicious that Athena, Dawn, Calvin and Elsa Clair forgot to smack each other.

PetzLife dental chews

Petz Life dental chews

Dental chews for pretty smiles.

Later in the day, I offered Lilah, Jasper and Tucker PetzLife dental chews. We don’t have any hard bones for the dogs to chew on, as Tucker broke three of his teeth chewing on antlers, so dental chews are a great way to give my dogs something to gnaw on and help keep their teeth clean. I felt quite comfortable with the natural ingredients, the dogs loved them, and their doggy kisses smelled sweeter than ever.

Don’t forget to RSVP for Pet Paw-Looza and buddy up with a friend to share the samples!

I just signed up! Looks like fun! Though, nows I am convinced that Tucker IS part Airedale, cause Ma says I stink all the time too!!! BOL! I always smell FABulous, until Ma grooms me and cuts off all the good smellin’ furs, and what is left is the Airedale stinky skin oils…so SHE says, I thinks I smell just right, so I thinks there is something wrong with peeps snooters!
    Just sayin’…..
    Kisses,

    • Actually, you don’t have to think about the dog products; you can just show up for the cat treat samples. (Though if you know some dog-loving friends, they might appreciate your sending them some samples.)

  3. This is such a cool idea! I have RSVP’ed.
