First Day of Spring, 2015

Calvin watching snow on the first day of spring

Calvin watches snow fall on the first day of spring. We got more than five inches.

To: Mother Nature

From: Me

Subject: Apology

Dear Mother Nature,

I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said winter was over. I shouldn’t have said spring was late.

It was very insensitive of me to think that I could know when the last snowstorm of the season was. That’s your job — one you do very well, I might add.

It was a mistake to post that all over the interwebs. Facebook. Twitter. Here on my blog. I know how messages like that can go viral.  But I really didn’t think people would go so far as to photoshop pictures of you on a bender in Tahiti. (Was that Poseidon and Titan with you in that one photo?) Or start trash talking your creativity. (Platypuses — or is it playipi; I’m never sure — are wonderful creatures. And I never believed that a camel was a horse designed by committee.)

I can understand why you’re angry. Probably as angry as the time someone tried to fool you with fake butter.

Anyway, I’m really sorry.

Can we have spring now, please?

Apologetically,

Susan

P.S. I probably offended Fate and Mr. Murphy as well; I’ve sent them notes too.

  1. What is it, Susan ? No apologize needed for saying that spring was late ! Dear Mother Nature, could you please be on time and, according to the calendar, send spring to our furriends on time as well ? Purrs

  2. WE think spring is just late. It was bitter cold and snowy here. Nature is broken!

  3. Daisy says:

You too?? We got half a foot here yesterday! Oh yeah, definitely apologize to Mr. Murphy too, his vengeful tactics are even worse than Ma Nature’s… 😉

  4. Ruby says:

Oh man! Sorry your Spring looks like Winter in the Alps! Well, You can build another snow mountain! ☺ No? Well, just thinks of all the glorious green grass all that snow is gonna fuel!! I’ll be all jealous then!

    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  5. Earl Lover says:

On the first day of spring, who DOESN’T want to look out of the window? And then you leap up to find THAT. Not entirely spring like at all.

Woofs from Earl, Ethel and I at Earl’s World!

  6. Val Silver says:

We had a little warm up tease (if you consider mid 30’s warm up) and now it’s back to single digits at night. But spring is coming- just a little late!

  7. Kitties Blue says:

How sad we are for you to see all that snow. Susan, mom says that lots of peeps should be sending those letters of apologies, but enough is enough. Don’t you think that even Mother Nature would agree? XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth ad Calista Jo

  8. Awww I LOVE this! I would gladly trade you some Sun for just a touch of snow!
