Bedecked in Snow: My Dogs Pose Before and After the Blizzard
TweetThe day before Blizzard Jonas blew into town, I posed my dogs on the steps of our deck, figuring I might have an opportunity for a Before and After comparison.
To create a good Before and After picture set, the photographer should be in the same position, with the same perspective. And the subjects should be arranged similarly.
Post-blizzard, digging a narrow path through nearly three feet of snow was about all we could manage, and don’t even ask about actually reaching — let alone clearing — the bottom step.
There was no room to sit pretty all lined up on the deck, and the only way I could get an After photo with the same perspective as the Before shot would have been to dig a Susan-sized ditch in a snow pile at the bottom of the stairs. The dogs and I discussed our options over treats.
I think the final result turned out just fine; don’t you?
Plus we got a bonus amusing outtake from the bunch. Can’t ask for more.
Do you ever take photos of your pets for perspective or interest?

Today, we’re participating in the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop. Stop by some of the blogs below to see some of their great photos.
Do you still have snow on the ground? We do almost two weeks later. We don’t like he snow, but we bet the doggies did. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Oh yes, I can actually see dirt and grass in some places, but the ground is still covered.
What a great idea for a before and after photo! You’re got a very cooperative pack there and I bet they all had a great time romping through the snow after the photo shoot!
They know that pretty sits equals treats, so they’re quite good at posing. Unless they get distracted…by a squirrel, a bird, a leaf, a bug, a smell…
I hope spring is in the air and that snow runs back to north pole soon :o)
We agree. We’ve had our snow. I’m ready for spring.
Cole slipped and that was it. He decided to hold it for the duration. LeeAnna
My dogs have learned how to deal with slipping and sliding and leaping and sinking in snow and frozen stuff. They like it a whole lot more than rain.
BOL, where do you live? Here in Minnesota we got dumped on! 🙂
We’re in New Jersey; Blizzard Jonas hit us pretty hard.
That was a great idea! I’m overwhelmed at the amount of snow – I live in Portugal, where usually doesn’t snow at all, with the exception of one mountain we have.
It is quite a bit, and we are used to dealing with snow, but not that much all at once.
OMD! That is crazy. I know that I’ve told you before but I’ll tell you again, I cannot imagine that much snow! It’d be such fun to play in at least once. ☺
It’s hard to imagine. You should visit up north sometime during the winter and have some fun. Feel free to stop by!
Now that’s a lot of snow!
A whole winter’s worth in one storm. 😀
So, who decided the one dog needed to be scrunched into the snowbank and not on the path? Looks a bit like two against one going on to me.
Actually, that was Jasper’s choice. When I told the dogs to Sit, Jasper jumped into the snowbank. He thought it was fun!
They sure enjoyed the snow!
They have always loved the snow. When spring comes and there’s just a little snow pile left, the dogs love to play in — and on — it.
Wow! Great before and after pictures. Your cute dogs really seem to enjoy the snow! 🙂
All of our snow has pretty much melted away!
Wow, that’s a lot of snow! So fun to see the before and after pictures. We don’t have any snow here in IL so it’s fun to see the pictures.
Good grief, you had to make them a path. What a difference! They look happy, snow or no snow. 🙂
