Haiku by Dog: How
Tweet
The challenges of snow expressed in Haiku by Dog. All three of my pups had to figure out how to take care of business when the depth of the snow made it a bit of a challenge. Even under normal circumstances, there seems to be many things to take into consideration before they settle on the perfect spots. Though the snow created another layer of complexity, they made do. (Couldn’t resist the pun.)
Do your pets have certain requirements that need to be met before they do their thing? A patch of grass, tamped down snow, a clean litter box, privacy?

I love being out in the snow and playing, so any excuse to stay outdoors is welcome!
Snow is fun, isn’t it? Though I think we’ve had more than our share this year. 😀
Good question, we don’t have snow atm, but I definitely have to take my time finding the ‘right’ spot. This is particularly important before bedtime. Mummy doesn’t seem to understand this and often moans that I take too long lol
OMD! I think it’s an unwritten Law of Dog that the last Outside of the night takes the longest. Particularly when it’s cold outside. 😉
YES, Sugar had the same issues, maneuvering and doing her doggy business. We had to make a special path for her. Be Safe n Stay Warm. Happy BlogPaws WW. Golden Woofs
Been there, done that, shoveled the path. It’s what we do for the sweet souls whom we love. Stay warm!
BOL! I do wonder how all you dogs do your business in the snow.
Happy WW,
Oz
Sometimes it’s a bit of a challenge, but the dogs find ways to deal with it. They always “do.”
Daisy sure is lucky to be a Florida dog! Happy WW!
You said it! Though the dogs do love the snow; they just have to rethink how to do what they gotta do.
It’s hard to do anything when the snow is to your belly.
Exactly. You gotta think creatively. 😉
Mr. N takes forever to find just the right spot. Onyxx goes at the first grassy spot.
I guess some of us are a little pickier than others. 🙂
At least its not over your head then you really got problems! Love Dolly
I can imagine that’s really hard for shorter dogs. I have had to tamp down some areas when the snow gets really deep.
very profound. 🙂 happy ww!
I find my profundity where I can. 😉
Miss Daisy waits for her brother Scooby to go first, then she goes in the same spot.
That’s funny. My Jasper does that with his sister Lilah. I always thought it was a boy dog thing, but I guess not.
I have often wondered how dogs – especially small dogs- handle tinkling in the snow. Around here the snow gets pretty deep! Great haiku 🙂
Many people have to go out and tamp down (or shovel out) a business area. My dogs run along paths they’ve created but step off those well-traveled areas to make their assorted deposits.
Now that’s what we call a profound Haiku!
😀 What happens when you get your inspiration from dogs and cats…
I don’t mind going even if the snow is up to my belly. If there is no tree/shrub/mound to claim, I just squat! And then the only way you can tell I’m peeing is by my tail being way up!
Good for you. My dogs eventually find their spots, but when the snow is deep–or slippery–it can take some time before they find the right spots.
Phod will do a standing pee in the deep snow. He needs to be off leash and in the bush/side of the yard to poop. Hailey will pee where she wants, but is also picky about where to poop. She doesn’t like the deep snow so this has been causing some problems.
Love your haiku!
We completely understand. Each dog his to figure out his or her own way to deal with the snow. Sometimes it takes a day or two, but then they figure it out. (And thanks!)
Great Haiku! And your pooch looks like he could be Bocci’s first cousin>>>
OMD, you’re right. Just stopped by your blog, and indeed they do look alike. I’m such a sucker for scruffy terrier dogs. Or any dog. Or cat. Or bird. Ok, I’m just a sucker. 😉
Uh oh…that’s a tough one.
Yup. The pooches have to figure it out. They eventually “do.”
Hmmm good question!
Especially if you’re a dog in the snow!
Poor child. this does present a problem and the look on his face says it all.
Exactly. I think he wanted to know why I put the snow there. Fun to play in, inconvenient to do what needs to be done.
