Haiku by Dog: Borders

Haiku by Dog: bird, squirrel, chipmunk, mouse / none shall approach these borders / unremarked upon

 Today’s haiku is by Jasper.

Border patrol. It’s a serious job, requiring keen eyesight, a nose for trouble, a stout heart and a willingness to sound the alarm at the slightest hint of an intruder.

Because you never know what evil lies in the heart of a mouse or a chipmunk. Or maybe you do, as Jasper reminds us in today’s Haiku by Dog. Brave pup, he stands ready to tell the world in barks and woofs of high volume that the perimeter may be breached.

Ooh, look, a squirrel!

Do your dogs serve on border patrol? What about other pets? My dogs will discuss nearly any potential “threat.” As for the cats, I always know if a moth flies into the house or a bug crawls across the floor–and even the dogs have learned to understand them and come running to investigate the tiny trespasser.

Prince is always on patrol for squirrels, cats, other dogs, and any real or imaginary threat. He feels you can never be too careful, like you said, when protecting your home and family.

So true of a dog to think in that situation!

Lots of Woofs from Earl and I at Earl’s World!

My pyrs are ALWAYS on border control. No person, animal, or leaf dare pass our yard. They will certainly let me know about it and continue letting me know for the next 15 minutes… 😉

  4. 24 Paws is their name and border patrol is their game! BOL! We probably have tighter security than Fort Knox around here!!

  5. Misaki says:

Looks like you’re taking the furry patrol very seriously!

  6. The cats are always standing guard in the windows, looking out for any intruders. And just like yours, if a bug gets inside, they are on it in a heartbeat. Especially those of the flying variety!

  7. We don’t do border patrol, but we have been called the neighborhood watch cats. We sit in the window and watch everything that goes on in the neighborhood.

Shiner is always on patrol! Just earlier she was in her favorite patrol spot looking out the window at the next door workers. Snoopervision is always necessary!
