Haiku by Dog: Summer

giant water bowl / or pool to splash in -- either / works in summer's heat #dog

Today’s haiku is by Lilah.

A backyard pool is a great way for hot dogs to cool off in the dog days of summer. Lilah loves a refreshing dip. She walks around in a circle and pushes her snout in the water, blowing adorable bubbles from her nose.

Jasper, on the other paw, cannot see why any dog would willingly get his feet wet, unless there are treats involved. He’d rather have a drink, thank you very much.

And Tucker? He’s on the other side of the yard, hiding under the rhododendron in the shade.

How do your pets stay cool in the heat?

Dogs and water intrigue me. Misty the alpha Poodle seems to be part dolphin. Timmy, the stud muffin, doesn’t even like to touch dew.

Mila doesn’t care for the water much. We currently live in NYC, so it’s not as easily accessible. However, we took a trip to San Diego and she loved the beach, but stood clear of the water! Great post! 🙂

Our crew is funny when it comes to the pool…they all have their different routines. Our beagle Cricket lies down in it to cool off when playing fetch. The retrievers will only stand in it. Luke will stick his nose in and slurp up all the water he can, and then let it dribble back out of his mouth. Our golden Sheba won’t go in unless the water is fresh!
The only thing they do have in common is that they all use it as a giant water bowl!

  4. Well, being cats, we don’t going swimming in pools when it’s hot. We usually stay close to the air blowing thingy in the house. Though today it’s really cool here…we don’t need any air blowing.
