Haiku by Dog: Done
TweetToday’s haiku is by Tucker.
Preparing for Thanksgiving—and the accompanying company that arrives—means we need to do a lot of vacuuming.
For some reason, not all humans appreciate the tumbleweeds of combined dog and cat fur that multiply in the corners of our home like tribbles. (For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Star Trek reference, tribbles are adorable little furry creatures that seem to do nothing more than make cute noises and create more tribbles.)
My dogs do not like vacuum cleaners. The cats feel the same way, except for Athena, who finds the whole process of housecleaning to be, as Mr. Spock (another Star Trek reference) would say, fascinating. She follows me around when I vacuum, dust, mop, or otherwise attempt to keep the pet fur at bay. I think she’s supervising snoopervising.
In the meantime, you’ll find the dogs huddled together in safety, or dispersed to whatever area of the house they think is least likely to be invaded by the noisy monster I insist on driving around the floors.
What do your pets think about vacuum cleaners?

I would hate the vacuum cleaner too if I had their hearing
Good point. Plus I’m sure they feel the vibrations as well. I understand. I think I find it harder to grasp why one of my cats thinks it’s so interesting that she follows me around. But then Athena has always been a little strange.
We could say exactly the same every Caturday morning ! Purrs
Poor kitties!
We don’t blame you. Is there room for two more under there?
I think there’s room for everybody. We don’t discriminate against species, and all are welcome. I’ve seen both Tucker and Calvin hide under the bed together.
Jasper, we’re the same way. We hate the “rug-sucking monster.”
If all my dogs and cats could fit under the bed, I think they would all be there when I take the vacuum cleaner out.
Truffle goes under the bed as soon as the vacuum cleaner is pulled out and stays there for a couple of hours afterwards.
Most of my gang agree. Except Athena who is fascinated with the whole process and follows me around to watch.
