Haiku by Cat: Treasure

Haiku by Cat: a box is defined / not by walls and floor, but by / the treasure it holds

Today’s haiku is by Athena.

It is a question that scientists, philosophers, and theoretical physicists have pondered for ages: what is it about cats and boxes?

Material doesn’t matter. A box could be made of cardboard, wood, plastic, or clean laundry.

Size doesn’t matter. Of the cat. Or the box.

Nor does a floor apparently.

If I answer the question, I’m wondering if there’s a Nobel Prize for cat research?

What strange places have your cats (or dogs) been seen in?

  2. My cat, Chessie, loves boxes, too. Only if they are boxes that she’s not supposed to go in, though. If I leave an empty box out for her to play in, she completely ignores it. Go figure!

  3. Emma says:

Cats are odd…they just like to squeeze into things.

  4. Mom knows all about cats and boxes! Her favorite saying is nothing beats a cat in a box. Not sure if she ever told you or not, her old cat Peaches would lay on top of the box and smash it so the other kitties couldn’t lay in it. She was pretty evil but she loved her to death. Love Dolly

  5. Ann Staub says:

What a lovely treasure it is too 🙂

  6. We love our boxes…small, big…it doesn’t matter.

  7. Jan K says:

Our cat Sam likes boxes, but her favorite thing is baskets. She’ll sleep in the laundry basket, or in my storage baskets on the bathroom shelves. She’ll even jump into the tall wicker laundry hamper when she gets a chance!

What a timely poem. We just replace our cats favorite cardboard box.

  9. MOL How cute. 🙂
