Haiku by Cat: Stream

Haiku by Cat: sun's rays stream down stairs / creating still pools of warmth / step over the cat

Today’s Haiku by Cat is by Athena.

The cats know it happens every day at a specific time. The sun shines through our dining room window at just the right angle to pour a waterfall of warmth down our stairs. Whoever claims the steps at the first trickle of sunlight will own the stairs for the rest of the afternoon; all other household felines acknowledge this unwritten rule. Neither will the dogs disturb  a very comfortable feline;  a cat’s sharp and pointy bits demand respect.

As for the humans in the house; we are always thankful that looks cannot harm. And we wisely step over the cat.

Do you step over, work around or make detours around your comfortable pet?

  1. Our stairs don’t get any sun, but the whole gang can be found in front of the back sliding glass door pretty much every day. They are draped over cat beds and across the floor, taking in the sun!

  2. easy rider says:

we have an obstacle course here too, but we accept that the pup needs some sunpuddles, so we jump over the dog and his toys :o)

  3. Ellen Pilch says:

I am glad the sun doesn’t hit our steps 🙂 Cute Haiku 🙂

  4. da tabbies o trout towne says:

    streem iz filled with trout
we wood like ta catch uz sum

  5. Emma says:

Cat bro Bert, Bailie, and I follow sun puddles around the house all year, but we aren’t afraid to fight for the best spot!

    • My gang has worked it all out. Cats claim everything, and dogs follow that rule. And the cats each know better than to challenge whoever currently owns the stairs. It rarely ends well, since whoever rules has the height advantage. 🙂

  6. Just don’t step on the cat! 🙂
