Haiku by Cat: Performance

Haiku by Cat: from balcony seats / entrancing performance for / two cats: dancing wren

Today’s haiku is by Dawn and Elsa Clair.

On my desk in my office is a purrfect setup for the cats: several levels of places to hangout, and balcony seats into the front yard. If they’re very lucky, a bird will land on the tiny roof that covers our porch. Sometimes it will stay for a moment. But when it hops and flaps and chirps…it’s a rare performance. So lucky the cats have the best seat in the house.

(For the purists out there, yes, I know that’s not a wren in the picture. It’s a chipping sparrow. But the haiku form didn’t allow for three additional syllables. I applied for–and received–poetic license to substitute.)

We don’t know birds so “wren” was fine with us without poetic license.

  3. That is a great seat. Enjoy the show!

Excellent haiku. Our kitties have the Catio with three bird feeders right on the other side of the screen. The enjoy day-long performances, enthralled by the bird antics. We are now going through 35 pounds of bird seed each week. Anything for our kitty crew. Hugs, Janet and XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
