Haiku by Cat: Dragon

Haiku by Cat: at stairway's summit / furry dragon awaits prey / ankles are not safe

Today’s haiku is by Elsa Clair.

I walk up the stairs with a basket of clean laundry, mentally ticking off the 7,532 items on my to-do list for the day, when a slight movement catches my eye.

I stop.

I see the tiniest tip of  black just barely visible at the top of the stairway. The black spot twitches. Once. Twice.

I’m wary now. On alert. I take a cautious step upward.

Two ears and a set of eyes are revealed. Large pupils focus a laser upon my being, boring into my soul.

Now that I think of it, the begonias need watering. I can put the clothes away later.

Do you work around your pets?

I know that kind of furry dragons… not even the vacuum cleaner can chase them away :o)

  3. Kitties Blue says:

Stairs are one of the best places to lurk. Our favorite thing to do, however, is to race our human. We always start last and finish first, trying to trip Mom up the entire way. Fun times! If Mom left the clean laundry, Lisbeth would immediately bury herself in it. Elsa Clair looks so adorable peering at you from her perch.
