Story: A new dog band: Sticks & Noses

Every time I look at this one picture I have of my dogs, I am reminded of photos of indy bands.

The kind taken from an unusual angle, and the band members aren’t looking at the camera, and nobody’s smiling. Kind of moody. Their personalities shine through, though: the moody drummer, the intense singer/songwriter, and the keyboard player who’s always cracking jokes.

I couldn’t help it: I created a dog band.

New dog band: Sticks & Noses

From left to right: Lilah, Tucker, Jasper

Lilah is the soulful singer / songwriter. She’s an introspective guitar player with a quiet, haunting voice.

Tucker, the drummer, is always in motion, setting the beat for the band. He does back-up vocals. And chases chicks…er…squirrels.

Jasper‘s distinctive howling voice can be heard on most of the band’s tunes. He plays keyboard as well.

Here are some of their top hits:

  • Rollin’ In It
  • One Sniff and You Had Me
  • Got the Squirrel (But the Rabbit Got Away)
  • Mud In My Fur
  • Who’s a Good Dog?
  • Why Did You Leave Me Again?
  • You Gotta Dig It

Sticks & Noses is available to play at any virtual party. They sing in both Dog and Cat; for kitty events, they collaborate with our cat band, Jellybean Toes.

This weekend, Sticks & Noses is playing at a Gotcha Day party for Jack and Maggie at SlimDoggy.com. Join the fun and send them a photo. They’re donating a $1 for every party guest to the Canine Animal Rescue League!

If your pets had a band, what would it be called? And what would their top hit be?

  1. I want Sticks and Noses at my next event! 😉

  2. meowmeowmans says:

Oh, that’s fantastic! So creative, and we think your dogs make one good looking band. 🙂

    • Thank you. I have to do one for my cats, too. Jellybean Toes should have an album cover. The hard part is getting them all to pose. I’ll have to come up with something creative…

  3. easy rider says:

bet Mud In My Fur is a fabulous song where you can shake all the mud off while dancing :o)

  4. Kitties Blue says:

Hissy Faces would definitely have to be their name. Songs, Peein’ on the Floor; Let Me In Now; Let Me Out Now; Hey You, Get Outta My Dish; I Knead You, I Want You, Pet Me; Meyowling the Night Away…

Susan, you are always so creative. You are an absolute inspiration. The album cover photo is purrfect as is the band’s name. Thanks for a great amusing post. Heading over to vote for you again today in the Petties. You really deserve to win.

Hugs, Janet and XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    • Ooh, I love Hissy Faces! Let Me In Now and Let Me Out Now must be fan favs!

Thanks for the compliment; I’m blushing! And thanks for voting. Feel free to share the joy. The world, the news and the interwebs are so full of nasty stuff; I like to feel that my little corner offers warmth, smiles and a laugh now and again.

  5. jan says:

My dog band would be Misty and her Minions. Misty would be the lead singer and guitarist and the rest of the dogs and the cat would be back up singers. I love your songs so there would be no need to write our own except maybe for “Poodle Love.”

  6. Harley said this band would be PAWfect for his next Doodle Day Romp – send us a contract!

  7. speedyrabbit says:

this is great a dog band ,that is cool, thanks for your visit,no I didn’t get to ride the ponies, mummy said they are a bit wild for that,xx Speedy

  8. Emma says:

    What a great photo!

  9. MOL! When’s their next concert?? 😉

  10. This is so cute!!! With all the musical instruments in our house, our cats really could start a band! Caster already likes to pick at the guitar with his teeth, and Sampson would be the singer, hands down. Sophie would provide some back up vocals, and perhaps some hand-drums and percussion. Delilah would be the introspective bassist, and Sassy would be the drummer.
