Text from Cat: An affront
TweetIn my house, the cats are fed on a half wall and on a buffet. Each cat has a placemat, and each cat knows where his or her food is supposed to be served.
Sometimes I forget or don’t have time to take the placemats away, and they stay out until the next meal. Since there’s no food involved, sometimes another cat will sit or — dare I say it? — sleep on someone else’s placemat.
Confusion and consternation ensues. It’s a terrible breach of kitty protocol.
Do your pets have favorite spots? Do they have a problem if someone else is in their territory?

If someone is in a spot that Misty the alpha Poodle wants she will bark at the door until the offender goes to the door, then Misty settles into a warm place.
Misty rules the house, I take it. 😉
Since we have only one pet right now, we don’t generally have those types of problems. BUT – if one of us has put something down in one of Daisy’s favorite nap spots, she’ll walk around and around restlessly and stare at us until we realize the error of our ways…
Exactly! It’s Daisy’s spot and your stuff has no business being there. She knows.:-D
No one should take your spot.
Right! It’s very rude.
my stars girl…. I know exactly how you feel…boomer is always in my way…ON PURPOSE ~~~~~ hugs from dai$y =^..*= ♥♥♥
Particularly with cats, who are territorial creatures, you just know they are occupying certain spaces on purr-pose. 😉
With eight of us, we have lots of spots available, so we can usually find another favorite if someone is in the one we want! Astrid does have a bed on the dining room table that no one else ver sleeps on. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
You would think there are enough spots, but there’s usually at least one that belongs to someone, and the other cats know it.
This cracked me up. We have this in my house with the girls. They have their spots and don’t like it when the boys takes them. Rodrigo, on the other hand, will just lay on top of the other dog.
It’s funny. Jasper has a very specific spot on the couch. It is Jasper’s Spot. Tucker will sleep anywhere on any couch, but Jasper likes that particular spot. Unknowingly, Tucker will sometimes jump into the special spot, and poor Jasper will look at me as if to say, “Make him get off.” I don’t, though. I let them work it out.
Our cats start in the same place when fed. Within a couple of minutes they began to play musical bowls. All 5 have individual bowls, they just move a lot.
