Sorry Dawn. I’m sure you were purr-fecting your cat-ceptance speech, but you are not eligible for an Academy Award.
Though it did get me thinking about the Best Picture nominations for the Oscars this year, and what they might have looked like in a more cat-centric world.
And the nom-inees are…
Here’s our list of nom-inees for Best Cat Picture,
- Mad Max: Furry Road: Dinner is late, and Max the cat is mad.
- The Hateful Ate My Dinner: A dog eats the cat’s dinner; revenge tastes sweet when served from a can.
- Spotlight: A cat pursues the evil red dot, and uncovers the awful truth behind the laser.
- Groom: Inside a box, two cats find ins-purr-ation as they encourage each other to look their best.
- The Remnant: Left out for the recycling, a newspaper is shredded by a vengeful kitty.

Actually, there are awards for best cat purr-formance: the Meow Mix 2016 Cat’s Meow Awards, which is why this post is sponsored by Meow Mix. Me too. They were more fun to imagine, at the very least.
Mom is so wishing that it was the A-cat-emy Awards ’cause she says it’s the most slow-moving and boring Oscars EVER. We can’t judge. We’ve slept through the entire thing. Dawn, that is the cutest photo. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
